Our Genesis
The inception of Practical Counselling Skills stems from my sense that while people seeking therapy are vulnerable, hurting, and confused, they sometimes meet therapists who do not do a great job. Every counsellor, whatever their modalities or beliefs require the same foundational skills to build secure therapeutic connections and avoid errors, ensuring clients are in capable hands. Counsellors at any stage of their career can gain enhanced confidence, achieve clarity in their work, and minimize clinical errors through focussed mini-seminars on foundational skills.
A Distinctive Approach to Supervision Group
Our approach diverges from many supervision groups that may prematurely offer advice about the client without fully understanding the challenge the counsellor is facing. At Practical Counselling Skills, we prioritize honing your foundational counselling skills. With over thirty years of experience as an individual and group therapist, supervisor, and radio talk show host featuring community conversations involving up to ten people simultaneously, I am adept at facilitating inclusive and non-competitive conversations, and I avoid jargon or buzzwords to communicate clearly and effectively.
